Smoky Mountain National Park: White Oak Sink

This area of the Smoky Mountain National Park was only recently opened to the public.  Prior to being opened locals would sneak here for the wonderful displays of wildflowers and a very interesting waterfall that flows directly underground.

White Egrets

These comical birds make some of the most interesting photographic subjects. They are so animated they can be difficult to photograph but if you catch them just right the images are a joy to view.  I think they are most dramatic in slightly diffused sunlight but proper exposures are tricky.
