On Tuesday morning I ran into Bill Dark on Falling Waters Creek rd. We chatted about conditions in the area and that I planned on visiting twin falls. In passing he told me about a friend of his who had fallen. I showed him the locater beacon I use from findmespot.com. I am really excited about the spot because it works from anywhere on the globe. Little did I know that later that day I would be the me in findmespot.
The image is where I was pinned by a larger log laying over the smaller branch you see that was under both my knees.

Hi Ed,
Wow, I’m so glad to hear you are OK. That device saved your life. Best of luck with your difficult recover – sounds like you will have lots of family around for support, that should help.
I subscribed to your blog a month or so ago – that sure explains the sudden lack of activity! I look forward to the day you are posting again because that will mean your back!
Ron
Hey Ed,
I am so glad you had that FindMeSpot unit, and that Glenn and the others were able to find you last week. I think it was a miracle.
I hope your last surgery went well today, and that you’ll be up and around shooting again soon. We will miss you this weekend at Petit Jean, and hope that you’ll join us for the Spring Gathering.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Please let me know if I can do anything to help.
Bill
Hey Ed,
Great you survived! As a fellow lone hiker in the woods with frequent cliff hanging photo shoots, I hail your courage! [I carry the SPOT too (that's how I connected with your story), and am happy to know that your life was saved by that clever little thing.] Your wounds sound severe, so I’m sending all my thoughts your way, hoping that you’ll be able to return to your dangerous ways soon. My best to you, Jewel Dirks (goat packer from Wyoming)
HEY ED GLAD TO HEAR THEY ARE THROUGH WORKING ON YOU, LONG ROAD OF RECOVERY WHICH WILL SEEM SHORT WITH THE GOOD POEPLE YOU HAVE AS SUPPORT. GOD BLESS SPEEDY RECOVERY
Dear Ed-
We read of your mishap at Twin Falls and send our blessinngs for a full recovery. I lived in Newton County in the mid-70s and am very familiar with Richland Creek and the Twin Falls having hiked and camped in the area numerous times. It is such a stunning area and Wow, what a miracle for you!
We look forward to keeping in touch as you make a comeback.
Our best,
Robin and Harry Loucks
